Personal Information Collection Statement (“PICS”)
The Nature Conservancy Hong Kong Foundation Limited (CR No.: 2339341) (“TNC HK”) and TNC HK group entities, including The Nature Conservancy (“TNC”) take your privacy very seriously. TNC HK is bound by the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) (“PDPO”) and other applicable laws protecting privacy, and would like to explain to you our policies relating to our collection and use of personal data.
Purpose of collecting personal data. TNC HK collects and uses your personal data:
- to process donations and other payments, and issue receipts to you;
- to communicate with you and assist with your queries;
- for direct marketing purposes to send you information, newsletters and other materials about TNC HK and TNC HK group entities both in print and in electronic form (as discussed below);
- to promote fundraising activities and events of TNC HK and TNC HK group entities;
- for its general business operations and recordkeeping; and
- to the extent required by law.
If you choose not to provide certain personal data to TNC HK, TNC HK may not be able to provide you with the information or services you require. We regard the security of your personal data as a priority and implement a number of physical and electronic measures to protect it.
Types of personal data TNC HK collects. TNC HK collects the following types of personal data:
- Your personal contact information such as your name, telephone numbers, email address, and mailing address;
- Other personal information you may provide such as birthdate, age, gender, and government ID number;
- Your business information such as company name and business title;
- Your credit card and/or bank account information;
- Your photographs and videos, if you provide them to us;
- Any other data that you chose to provide to us.
How we use your personal data. TNC HK uses your personal data for the following purposes:
- Process and respond to inquiries and for the purposes for which you provided the information, such as to process donations, register or renew you as a donor or supporter, or receive information about a project or special event;
- Respond to your questions and comments;
- Alert you to administrative information such as information regarding your account, the Website, changes to our terms, conditions, and policies, or providing you your tax receipt;
- Provide project updates, invitations to events, fundraising campaigns, annual reports, holiday e-cards, join-date anniversary messages, to you about TNC, with your consent;
- Personalize the content, improve the navigability of the Website, and customize your experience on the Website, including targeted content, offers, and advertising on the Website, or via email or text message;
- Facilitate your participation in sweepstakes, contests, and similar promotions and to administer these activities. (Some of these activities have additional rules, which could contain additional information about how we use and disclose information including your Personal Information. We suggest that you read any such rules carefully.);
- Protect the security or integrity of the Website and TNC HK and TNC HK group affiliates, such as by protecting against fraud, unauthorized transactions, claims and other liabilities, and managing risk exposure, including by identifying potential hackers and other unauthorized users;
- Conduct surveys to measure your satisfaction with aspects of TNC HK’s activities;
- Analyze data, usage trend identification, promotional campaign development, audit, fraud monitoring or prevention, new product or service development, service enhancement, interaction improvement, or operating and expansion purposes; or
- To enforce our Terms of Use or other program terms.
Transfer of personal data. TNC HK may transfer your personal data to third parties, as follows:
- to vendors and suppliers that provide (i) fundraising services, including content, mailing, printing, telemarketing, donation and payment processing, data processing and other related services to TNC HK and TNC HK group entities; and (ii) general business and administrative services in connection with TNC HK and TNC HK group entities’ operations;
- to government or statutory authorities, institutions or organisations, as necessary or appropriate, to comply with applicable law, cooperate with law enforcement, or respond to requests from authorities;
- to TNC HK’s subsidiaries and affiliates and other group entities, including TNC;
- where you have otherwise consented; and
- as otherwise required or authorised by law.
Please note that some of the persons to whom we disclose personal data are situated outside Hong Kong (in particular in the United States and other jurisdictions in which TNC and other TNC HK group entities are based).
Direct marketing. As discussed above, TNC HK will use your personal data for direct marketing purposes, but for these purposes we will only use your personal contact information such as your name, address, phone numbers and/or email address and only upon receiving your consent to such use.
Access, correction and queries.
